Saying of the Day
Public libraries have been a mainstay of my life. They represent an individual's right to acquire knowledge; they are the sinews that bind civilized societies the world over. Without libraries, I would be a pauper, intellectually and spiritually.

Seeking new Library Board Trustees
With roots dating back to 1887, the Library serves the Township of Uxbridge - an evolving community with a population of 21,000 in two locations: Uxbridge and Zephyr. The Board, which reports to Council, is comprised of twelve members, two Councillors and ten citizen appointments for a term of four years. The Board meets the third Thursday of the month excluding July and August at 6:30. Along with the governance, legal and fiscal roles, Library Board Trustees are expected to support and participate in the community engagement by: maintaining an open dialogue with the community, developing strategic partnerships with community groups and leaders, and being aware of the municipal planning context. For more information see the full Trustee Job Description or phone Alexandra Hartmann, CEO/Chief Librarian, at 905-852-9747 ext 204. The deadline is Friday, November 28.
