David Phillips (Chair)
David taught for 34 years for the Durham District School Board as a Physical Education Department Head. He is an university graduate with a BA, a BPHE and a MEd.
He is an active member of St.Andrew's-Chalmers Presbyterian Church. He has been married to Anne for 42 years and they have one married daughter, Nancy Alexander.
Nancy and her husband Brian, have one daughter Rachel who was born in July 2009. David is a great supporter of libraries and has been on the Library Board for ten years and became the Chair in January 2006.
He is on the board of the Southern Ontario Library Service.
Asli Gocer (Vice-Chair)
Asli Gocer is a new citizen of Uxbridge. She moved here from downtown Toronto with her husband and never looked back. She has a PhD in philosophy. Before moving to Canada in 1997 she was a professor in the United States. Since then she has taught at the University of Toronto as well as York University. She is a full-time writer, an avid reader, and a nature enthusiast.
Rita Irwin
Rita has lived in the town of Uxbridge since 1988. Her three children were born and raised here. Rita has volunteered and been a board member with
many non-profit organizations. She also works full-time with a local company and enjoys participating in community theatre in different capacities.
Rita is an avid reader and clogger.
Chuck Heroux
Chuck Heroux is a retired professional engineer whose career was spent in the chemical and corrosion industries, in technical sales, marketing, and executive positions in both Canada and the United States.
After eight years in Chicago he and his wife, Gail, returned to Canada and settled in Uxbridge in 2004. They have four children,four grandchildren, and have just pased their fourtieth wedding anniversary.
Al Rickwood
Al Rickwood has been a resident of Uxbridge since 1986. He is a volunteer for the Durham Hospice visiting palliative care clients in their homes. Until recently,
he was a Director of the Uxbridge Horticulture Society. He was a founder member and Past President of The Artists of Uxbridge. He is currently a member of The Friends
of Uxbridge Library.
Janet Betts
Janet ia a 30 year resident of Zephyr in the Township of Uxbridge and is a self employed individual that is committed to promoting community involvement.
Councilor Jacob Mantle
As a Councillor in Uxbridge Jacob
serves as Chair of the Sustainability, Watershed and Conservation Committee. Jacob also serves on a number of boards and advisory committees including
the Library Board, the Uxbridge Watershed Advisory Committee and the Business Improvement Area (BIA).
Alexandra Hartmann
(Chief Executive Officer, Secretary to the Board)
Alexandra Hartmann and her husband mark Bailey live in Uxbridge with their daughter Ariana. Alexandra earned a B.A.
(Hon.) at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Master of History and a Master of History and a Master of Library
and Information Science at the University of Western Ontario. Alexandra has lived and worked in Newfoundland, Ontario,
Labrador, and Saskatchewan. Prior to coming to Uxbridge, Alexandra was a Chief Executive Officer of Lakeland Library
Region, one of ten Regions in Saskatchewan.
