17. The Original Foundation

If the weather permits, retrace your steps to the lower entrance doors and go outside to take a look at the original foundation of the building. It is believed that John T. Stokes of Sharon, Ontario was the architect of the building. These impressive stone walls have yet to crack in over 110 years. In 1987, the library received a significant addition that was designed by the Toronto based firm of Moffat Kinoshita. The addition is sympathetic to the original architecture. Walk along the alley and turn left to the intersection of Toronto and Brock Streets.
