Ancestry Library Edition

The Township of Uxbridge Public Library offers Ancestry Library Edition. This online database allows library users to start exploring their family trees by simply typing in a surname. Containing millions of records, Ancestry Library Edition is available on the library’s Internet and electronic research stations at both of our branches. No need for a password or a username.

Once connected to Ancestry Library Edition, patrons will find a friendly opening screen that asks for the name of the person to be searched. Users can key in the name, click on “Search” and Ancestry Library Edition scans its vast selection of Canadian & U.S. census data, birth, marriage, and death records, World War I military service information and immigration lists. It also includes an extensive collection of information from the U.K., including images from English and Welsh census records, and civil registrations. Additionally, probate records dating back to the 1500s are included from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Patrons have the opportunity to add names to form the “tree” or continue to search names in order to find more clues.
