Amelia Bloomer Project The Amelia Bloomer Project of the Feminist Task Force of the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association has created bibliographies of "inspiring feminist books published within the past 18 months for young readers from birth to age 18 memorializes the legacy of nineteenth-century feminist activist Amelia Bloomer". CLA Young Adult Canadian Book Award This is an annual award given to an author of an outstanding English language Canadian book that appeals to young adults between the ages of 13 and 18. Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Young Adult Booklists There are over two dozen briefly annotated lists of suggested reading for teens including biographies, poetry, self-help, and fiction on such topics as death and dying, faith, mental illness, various family relationships, gender issues, war, travel, and more. Flamingnet Book Reviews Created by Gary Cassel and his dad, this " website is for students between 8 and 16 years old, their parents, grandparents, and teachers, who are looking for books to recommend to or buy for their children, grandchildren, or students. They have listed current and even classic books that this age group may find interesting and enjoyable". Internet Speculative Fiction Database This is one of the largest sites to catalog works of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror for Adults and Young Adults. Hosted by the The Cushing Library Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection and Institute for Scientific Computation at Texas A&M University. Library Q A comprehensive list of recommended books for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered youth. The Locus Index to Science Fiction Comprehensive but difficult to navigate list of science fiction for all ages from 1984 to present. Also includes an index to science fiction awards. The Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature An annual award begun in Year 2000 presented by the Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. Outstanding Books for the College Bound and Lifelong Learners This list is "intended as a tool for a variety of audiences--college bound students, educators, librarians, and parents. There are five sections: fiction, biography, nonfiction, drama, and poetry." They also link to other Web sites about the author and/or title if available. The list is revised every five years by a committee of the Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association. Picturing Books: A Web Site About Picture Books Denise I. Matulka, author of Picture This: Picture Books for Young Adults, has put together a very useful site about different styles of Picture Books. There is also a great resource link to other Children's literature sites. Readers' Services Page From the Rochester Hills Public Library lists Reviews, Awards, Reading Groups, Reading Lists, Genre Fiction, Young Adults and Audio Books information. Reading Matters: Books for Young People Frequently updated book review site featuring family-oriented fiction for children and teens. Noteworthy for its user-friendly navigation, reviews are indexed by author and by title, with a "bookchooser" that asks readers a series of questions, then recommends novels based on the answers. The Romance Reader There are thousand of reviews of romance titles and their authors. SparkNotes Study Guides From Barnes and Noble, these free study aids written for students by Harvard students and graduates specializing in different topics. There are now over 1.6 million SparkNotes literature guides are in print covering subjects from the Classics, Biographies, History, Philosophy, the Sciences, Economics and more. Stellar Awards The Stellar Award is B.C.'s new Teen Readers' Choice Award. From November to April, teens can read, review, discuss and rank their favourite nominees. Teen Books and Reading From the Mercer County, New Jersey website with links to great lists for teens with links to mysteries, fantasy, comics, sports, survival, historical fiction, horror books. Teen Issues and Challenges Check out the bibliographies on issues such as Drinking and Driving Bibliography for Teens in Grades 9-12, Divorce Bibliography for Kids in Grades 3-6.
