The Alex Awards
The 1999 Alex Awards honours the top 10 adult books for teenagers published during a calendar year. Part of a five-year project cosponsored by Booklist and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA).

Amelia Bloomer Project
The Amelia Bloomer Project of the Feminist Task Force of the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association has created bibliographies of "inspiring feminist books published within the past 18 months for young readers from birth to age 18 memorializes the legacy of nineteenth-century feminist activist Amelia Bloomer".

An annual award begun in Year 2000 presented by the Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.

Outstanding Books for the College Bound and Lifelong Learners
This list is "intended as a tool for a variety of audiences--college bound students, educators, librarians, and parents. There are five sections: fiction, biography, nonfiction, drama, and poetry." They also link to other Web sites about the author and/or title if available. The list is revised every five years by a committee of the Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association.

Teen Issues and Challenges
Check out the bibliographies on issues such as Drinking and Driving Bibliography for Teens in Grades 9-12, Divorce Bibliography for Kids in Grades 3-6. There is also information on issues related to Relationship Violence as well as War and Conflict. These lists have been created by Dr. Jami, a former director of two public libraries in the United States. She is currently a a school library media specialist at Barron Collier High School in Naples, Florida and an adjunct instructor of educational media at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale.

Young Reader's Choice Awards (YRCA)
Established in 1940 to promote reading for enjoyment. Chosen by the children and young adults of Alberta, Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington, from books published 3 years previously, and nominated by librarians, teachers, students and others. There is an Intermediate Division for Grades 7 to 9 & a Senior Division for Grades 10 to 12.
