Wake Unto Me by Lisa Cach
Review By Hilary

This book is about a girl named Caitlyn. Caitlyn does not have many friends in Oregon, and when she gets a once in a life time chance to go to a boarding school for girls in France, she does not need much convincing. It is the perfect opportunity for her to start over and become a new person. But when her crazy nightmares and vivid dreams follow her, she begins to wonder if she will ever be able to leave her past behind. When she begins to dream about a historical time in the castle that is now her school, she meets Raphael, and they fall in love. Caitlyn is confused as she helps him search for the cursed treasure of the castle, and the two of them don’t know if they will ever be able to be together. When things become more dangerous, Caitlyn must depend on her friends to help her see the difference between her dreams and reality.

The Book Theif by Markus Zusak
Review By Hilary

This book is about a girl named Liesel who lives during the World War II. She lives in Nazi Germany with her foster parents. Her story is narrated by Death. Liesel loves books and her foster Papa teaches her to read every night. Papa and Liesl have a special connection and he teaches her the consequences of disobeying Hitlers commands. Liesel and her friend Rudy discover that they may need to go to desperate measures to survive. When they take in a Jew, whose father saved Liesels Papa in the war, they face many troubles and Liesel is forced to leave him behind during the bombings. This is a fantastic book that is very sad but really opens you up to the kind of things not only Jews went through but also what Germans went through in the World War II.
